A Prayer for the Lebanon

Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. (Isaiah 40:1)

Holy God, ever present,
our hearts are once again heavy
as we watch the disaster in Beirut unfold.
We pray comfort for those who have lost loved ones
and remember those who have lost their lives,
commending their souls to your care.
In the midst of this tragedy,
we are mindful of those who are injured
and of the many who are ill,
and of communities that are already struggling
to address the many needs that are present.
We pray for relief in these days of suffering.
May our lives and our resources be a source of assistance, love and care.
Be present with all who mourn today.
Grant peace and renewed hope.
Comfort, O comfort your people we pray.

A Prayer for Palestine and Israel

Gracious God, you promised Jerusalem as home to many peoples – Jews, Christians, Muslims. Jerusalem: a place to dwell with You and one another in peace. Be with us between Rosh Hashana’s quiet time of repentance and Yom Kippur’s day of shouts and blessings. save us from Apartheid walls and rocket launches, from uprooted olive groves and illegal settlements. may your Spirit of peace fill Jerusalem and all the lands. Amen

  1. Thanks for sharing this informative post Ruth. I browsed through it and enjoyed the read. Maybe someday we may worship together at the hall? I shall look forward to offer any help that I can from a distance. Keep doing the wonderful work you are doing. I am inspired just watching you smile.

    • Hello Sophia, many thanks for your kind words. We are worshipping God digitally, and supporting each other but the church building will not be open for a while. We are meeting on line though for prayer, Bible study and having virtual coffee together plus recorded worship and a weekly podcast!! So God has not finished with us yet ! If we can help you please let me know. Blessings Ruth
